Central Romana Corporation, Ltd. is an Agro-industrial Company headquartered in the city of La Romana, Dominican Republic. Since the early 1900’s the primary interests of the company has been the production of sugar.
In the late 1960’s Central Romana Corporation, Ltd. began an aggressive diversification program in tourism and manufacturing fields. Through the years, Central Romana Corporation, Ltd. and its subsidiaries have become pioneers in the development of tourism in the Dominican Republic.
All started with the construction and operation of the famous tourist complex Casa de Campo, located in the city of La Romana, which has three modern golf courses, beaches, marine activities, tennis, equestrian sports, shooting facilities, shops, restaurants and many other features. It also owns Hotel Santo Domingo, operating in the city of Santo Domingo, along with a 600 room all-inclusive facility, located 15 miles east of the city of La Romana on the beach at Bayahibe.
Since the early 1970’s, Central Romana Corporation, Ltd., owned and operated a regional airport (LRM) located within the limits of Hotel Casa de Campo in La Romana. In December 2000, the Corporation, inaugurated a new private International Airport, capable of handling transcontinental flights.
In 2001, Central Romana Corporation, Ltd., inaugurated Casa de Campo Marina, located in the junction of the Caribbean Sea and the Chavon river to house and entertain pleasure yacht owners.
In 2002, after five years of partnership in hosting and managing Costa Cruises operations in Catalina Island, Central Romana Corporation, Ltd., began rebuilding its century old berthing facilities, as well as constructing another tourist pier in the eastern and western shores of La Romana river. The new terminals can handle modern cruise liners, and has been fully operational since December 2002.
With the addition of the new La Romana Port to its tourism complex, Central Romana Corporation, Ltd., consolidates its standing as the safest one stop service option to the Caribbean cruise market.
